10 Sheep House Green

10 Sheephouse Green is a two-storey side extension to a family home based in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in the Surrey Hills. The design features a new living room on the ground floor and a new bedroom and study on the first floor. The design of the new extension is respectful of the existing property by using thoughtful materiality and the massing is recessed at the front and rear, enhancing the overall respect for the host property.

Careful consideration has been given to detailing, particularly using a chamfered corner on the south-east facade, which when seen from the interior guides the viewer’s eye to the outside garden and celebrates the surrounding mature trees. The proposal aims to deliver a contextual approach that improves the architecture of both the existing dwelling and the prominent rear elevation in which it sits.
